An sich würde ich ja gerne in Englisch antworten zur Übung, aber da du ja Deutsch lernen willst sag ich es in Deutsch.

Du kannst ja mal so eine Rundreise durch Deutschland (und Schweiz, Österreich und Belgien ) machen. Genug Mitglieder gibt es ja. Und dann bei jedem mal die Gastfreundschaft genießen.

I'm not sure what part and when, maybe summer... I'd love to visit Berlin and Bavaria, shame they're at the opposite ends of the country...

But that's not too bad: so you will be able to see a big part of Germany just by going from one of your destinations to the others!

Mark du kannst gerne einige Tage bei mir in Hessen unterkommen. Jedenfalls, wenn meine Eltern es erlauben*g* und wenn es dir nichts ausmacht im Zelt zu übernachten. Aber es sollte vielleicht gehen. Sag bescheid wenn Interesse besteht!

We do live both in Hessen.

I've resumed me German classes this term, but we are still going over the grammar, even though we should be focusing on new words, because we keep forgetting it all!

The words I used you won´t find anywhere. They dont even realy exist.
I wrote them like we would speak them in dialect.
Like "Guude Tach" instead "Guten Tag" for example.

Ah right! I don't know how I could do my accent phonetically cos it sounds normal to me

I dont use my dialekt normally.
Its just for fun.
Only old people or people from the country side do speak the hessian dialect all the time.

Do you have country accents and town accents?

It's quite usuall that people in the more rural parts have stronger accents than people in the larger towns.

Sometimes even adjacent suburbs, which had been different small towns some 100 years ago, use diferent names for the same item. But this is usually limited to the elderly people, some of them never have been to the neighbouring suburb, even if it is just one or two miles away, no joke! If these guys start talking their slang, I have no chance to understand anything.

Isn´t it the same in England?

More or less, yeah.
In Norwich, they have a peculiar accent with rising intonation at the end of sentences, but just outside the city it's very oo-ar and countryfied

Yeah, nearly the same. But we do more "worse" things with the words.
